I have and I started to use Proactiv and it works really good as long as you used it twice a day like it says it cleared my whole face up and it has been clear ever since.

  • miss fitness superfox:

At this point, you could try using products like ProActive. Ask your dermatologist about Differin also, it’s a prescription for acne.

that is true that it doesn’t really go away forever for some people. for other people it disappears when they become an adult. i found that only washing your face 2 times a day is best (washing too many times can irritate your skin and make the acne worse).
i haven’t tried proactiv, but i like neutrogena oil-free acne wash. it’s cheaper than proactiv and it works well. i also found putting toothpaste on your zits before bed can help any existing pimples to “dry out” faster.

I had the same problem so my mom took me to the dermatoligist (or however you spell it) and he told me about differen. It really works! you just apply it once a day right before bed. He also gave me a face wash thats 5% benzoil peroxide. Talk to him and ask him about perscription medication.

  • Amy:

A bottle of Oxi acne face wash can be found at your local drugstore. About $6. But it contains 10% Benzoil Peroxide (sp?) So unless your acne is severe, this will really wipe ‘em out. It’s very drying, so combo skin would be to risky, good for very oily, and severe acne skin though.

Proactive is also affective in a milder way, but it doesn’t clear all cases of acne. Much pricier, but mostly affective. (about $20)

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Ask your doctor about Differen or Tazorac lotion. They are by prescription only but work very well. Also use Nutrogena oil-free acne wash.

well unfortunately there isnt a cure for acne.just ways of controlling and preventing it.i suggest that u do the basic steps of dealing with acne.cleanser, toner, sunscreen and exfoliator twice a week.do this every morning and every night religiously.try to by products with glycolic acid.”md forte” is good but quite expensive.also try to get a facial once a month.hope ive helped.God bless and take care.

Your doctor is right there is no cure for acne. I have suffered from persistent acne for the last 5 years. I’m 21 so I’m sure you can understand how much of a confidence deflater it is. I’ve tried every prescription to proactiv. Everything only works for so long. A good diet they say helps, but that supposedly helps everything right? My suggestion is to switch your products every 6months to a year. so if your using benzoyl peroxide and it has stop working switch to salicylic acid and use it for awhile. NEVER use these two products together it only makes it worse. Also ask your dermatologist for a stronger dose of what you have, these prescriptions can be up to 5X stronger than what you find at the store. Good luck with everything. And remember you are your own worse critic and things could be so much worse. I say that to myself in the mirror when I’m having bad breakout days. Sometimes it makes you feel just a little bit better.

Myth: washing your face cures acne. Umm. no. Actually washing your face more often can just irritate your skin more. You need to use a mild soap. I only use oil of olay. Most acne is below the skin anyway, it’s generally not a surface thing. It has to do with oil glands.. those are under/inside the skin, not on the surface.

Myth: A dermatologist can solve your problems. Actually, my dermatologist didn’t help me one bit. (aside from some drugs that actually made it worse) PLUS she doesn’t agree that the dairy triggers my acne – she says it’s impossible.

IS THERE A CURE?: Yes, and No. Depends on your definition of “cure”. It has several. But I’ll tell you this. My body reacts to dairy products. My acne is triggered by dairy. If you search on google for “dairy and acne” you will see what I’m talking about. There’s also links between seafood (shellfish), iodine and acne. So to me.. my “cure” is to not eat dairy. It works for me like you wouldn’t believe.

There’s also links between beef and acne. It all stems around pregnant cows., hormones and enzymes that trigger the oil glands in our bodies.

I’ve had acne since I was about 13. Mostly cystic. (zits the size of quarters, silver dollars, had one once the size of a baseball on my back – tell you – boy was that fun NOT! – under the knife, three drain tubes sewn in, lots of purging and two weeks later, I was finally back to normal, but with a huge scar on my back to remember it by.)

I know acne. Trust me. Diet can play a HUGE role for probably 80% of the people out there. Holding my hands near my face.. phone near my face.. irritating my skin.. that causes little zits. Just like scrubbing or washing too much can cause zits for me.

Email me if you feel like you’ve tried everything and want some other ideas.

Proactive isn’t a cure all. Tetrocycline isn’t a cure all. And neither is Accutane. Doctors know some things, but they don’t know your body like you know it.

The drug companies will never sell a cure all product. They want you to continue buying their products. Same with dermatologists. They gotta stay in business. It’s all about money I tell ya. Nuts.

IT’S TOUGH: I know it’s tough. Kids make fun of you., adults, even teachers made fun of me. You simply have to look in the mirror and say to yourself that it only makes you stronger and makes you realize what friends are your true friends. It’s tough. Lots of tears. Lots of sadness.. depression. It’s sucky the way that society makes us feel guilty for something we cannot prevent.
